Executive Physical Examination Q&A

Why do I need an executive physical?

If you have a job where you work long hours, travel a lot, or deal with a high-stress, demanding environment, these conditions can affect your physical and emotional well-being. When this happens, you can have trouble focusing on tasks at work, which can affect your job performance overall. Having executive physicals lets you find out how you’re doing physically, so you can make adjustments as needed to improve your health and boost your well-being.

What happens during an executive physical?

During your executive physical, you’ll have your vitals checked, such as your blood pressure and heart rate. If your vitals aren’t in a healthy range, Dr. Ramin will discuss ways to change that through diet, exercise, stress relief, and medical treatment if needed. For example, if you have high blood pressure, Dr. Ramin will come up with a treatment plan for you. During your physical, Dr. Ramin will also check your condition overall and look for any potential problems that might need to be addressed.

What does Dr. Ramin look for during an executive physical?

Dr. Ramin will go over your medical history and have you undergo lab tests as needed, such as a complete blood count and a cholesterol profile. You might also have a cardiac health evaluation that includes a cardiac stress test, as well as an auditory health assessment to check your hearing.

If you’re at risk for health problems, such as heart disease, Dr. Ramin will guide you on fitness and nutrition. You might also receive advice on how to lower your stress levels if they seem to be severe enough to affect your health.

How long does an executive physical take?

That depends on the types of tests and evaluations you’re having done. You can expect your physical to take a few hours or more if you’re having a thorough executive physical, especially if you have health problems or are at risk of heart disease or other conditions. Dr. Ramin will let you know how long you can expect to be at the office for your physical.
